The annual scramble to purchase a JAMB electronic PIN has for years been a source of considerable anxiety for Nigerian families, with network failures, failed transactions and system timeouts frequently disrupting the university admission process for thousands of candidates.
That experience may soon change. Interswitch has announced that it is making its payment infrastructure available to candidates registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with the aim of delivering a faster and more reliable ePIN purchase process.
The company is channelling registrations through two platforms, its Quickteller service, available on both web and mobile application, and the Interswitch Payment Gateway, both of which have been integrated directly into the official JAMB efacility portal. Once a candidate generates a profile code through JAMB, the ePIN can be purchased through either platform and is delivered immediately upon payment, with no requirement to visit a physical registration centre.
Olawale Akanbi, Divisional Head of Growth Marketing at Interswitch, spoke to the significance of the registration period for Nigerian households. “We understand how critical this process is for families,” he said. “By providing trusted channels, we are helping candidates complete their registration with confidence.”
Interswitch added that its systems were designed to handle the volume of transactions that the JAMB registration window generates each year, with capacity built to absorb peak demand and reduce the disruptions that have characterised previous registration seasons.
