The Prince Olawale Cole Maritime Foundation has provided 200 free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board registration slots to young people seeking careers in Nigeria’s maritime and related industries.

Foundation representatives disclosed that the education initiative is part of activities celebrating the birthday of Prince Olawale Cole, who chairs the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents at Tin Can Island Port and founded the organisation.

The organisation stated that the programme aims to expand educational access and strengthen human capacity development within the country’s blue economy by supporting aspiring professionals in the maritime sector.

According to the foundation, the 200 JAMB slots were dedicated as a special gesture to mark the birthday of its founder, Prince Olawale Cole. The initiative, it noted, is open to interested members and aspiring entrants into the maritime sector, forming part of activities lined up to celebrate what it described as a legacy of visionary leadership and service.

The foundation combined its education support with humanitarian outreach, visiting a motherless babies’ home where it distributed donations and gifts to children.

The gesture, the foundation noted, reflects its commitment to uplifting the less privileged and extending compassion to vulnerable groups in society.

Officials emphasised that the dual education and charity activities also honoured the leadership of its Tin Can chapter, which operates around Tin Can Island Port. They explained that the organisation remains committed to using targeted interventions to inspire young people and build a pipeline of skilled professionals for the maritime industry.

They stressed that through initiatives such as the JAMB sponsorship and community outreach, the POC Maritime Foundation is deepening its investment in education, youth empowerment, and social responsibility, while reinforcing its broader mission of service and sectoral development.

The intervention arrives as the 2026 UTME registration period continues toward its 26th February 2026 closure, with JAMB maintaining that the deadline will not be extended under any circumstances.

Many Nigerian families continue facing economic challenges in affording examination costs, making philanthropic support particularly significant for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The maritime foundation’s sponsorship adds to numerous similar initiatives across Nigeria, where organisations and individuals have funded JAMB registrations to reduce financial barriers preventing young people from accessing tertiary education opportunities.
