Fresh candidates preparing to register for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination or Direct Entry have been told to slow down at the profile creation stage, with JAMB warning that small errors in names and dates of birth could snowball into serious admission problems later. According to the Board, candidate details used to build a JAMB profile are pulled directly from records held by the National Identity Management Commission and cannot be created or edited by JAMB itself. This means any inaccuracy already present in a candidate’s NIN record, whether in their name, date of birth, or other linked details, carries straight into their JAMB profile and becomes difficult to fix once registration is complete.
JAMB urged candidates to take a moment before creating their profile and carefully check that their name, date of birth, and any other details linked to the NIN are correct.
