Residents of Kaduna State have praised Defence Minister Gen. Christopher Musa for launching a complimentary Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration initiative targeting disadvantaged students, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Uba Sani’s Sustainable Agenda.
The programme will accommodate 1,150 students selected from all 23 local government areas across the state. It seeks to broaden tertiary education access for young people from impoverished and vulnerable households, especially those residing in areas plagued by banditry and violent criminal activity.
Each local government area is expected to produce at least 50 beneficiaries, totalling 1,150 participants statewide. Citizens have characterised the intervention as both timely and consequential, observing that it will alleviate economic pressure on financially strained families whilst creating fresh educational pathways for youth.
Numerous residents believe the scheme will make substantial contributions toward achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, which advocates inclusive and equitable quality education alongside lifelong learning opportunities for all by 2030.
Ibrahim noted that the initiative demonstrates Gen. Musa’s dedication to public service, highlighting that his track record as Chief of Defence Staff and presently as Minister of Defence has garnered widespread approval across political, ethnic and religious boundaries. He stated that “Almost everyone has set aside political and tribal differences to support him, as well as the administrations of President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani.”
Similarly, Hon. Mohammed Ibrahim Soba, a political figure from Soba Local Government Area, portrayed the programme as a meaningful reconciliation effort. He observed that such intervention had been absent in Kaduna State for an extended period and voiced optimism that the initiative, originating from a minister of southern Kaduna extraction, would further reinforce Governor Uba Sani’s pursuit of unity, inclusion and sustainable development within the state.
