Candidates in Iseyin, Oyo State, and its surrounding communities will no longer endure lengthy trips to access Computer Based Test (CBT) facilities following the donation of a 250 capacity examination centre to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) by renowned legal practitioner and philanthropist, Ahmed Raji, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

The handover ceremony took place on Wednesday at Raji Oke-Esa Memorial Comprehensive High School, Iseyin, where the Raji Oke-Esa Foundation also presented renovated classrooms and administrative offices to the institution.

JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede framed the donation within the board’s broader national agenda, explaining that expanding CBT infrastructure beyond major urban centres remained central to JAMB’s ongoing transition from paper based to computer based examinations. He commended Raji as an exceptional legal mind whose philanthropic instincts had produced a facility with far reaching implications for educational access in the region. Prof. Oloyede also conveyed a commendation letter from Education Minister Dr Tunji Alausa, calling on other Nigerians to demonstrate similar commitment.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology Segun Olayiwola, welcomed the development as complementary to the state government’s agenda for broadening quality educational access and advancing digital infrastructure at all levels.

Senator Abdulfatai Buhari (APC, Oyo North) lauded Raji’s values and community spirit, whilst former Nigerian Communications Commission Chairman Prof. Adeolu Akande described the intervention as critical to closing digital divides within the education sector. Former Iseyin Local Government Chairman Alhaji Saheed Yusuf emphasised the practical relief the centre would provide to candidates previously compelled to travel considerable distances for examinations.

Raji also unveiled three merit awards for students at the school, comprising the Prof. Ishaq Oloyede Award for overall best student, the Gov. Seyi Makinde Award for best female student and the Abdul-Akeem Olayori Award for best behaved student, each carrying a free education guarantee.
