Nigerian candidates preparing for University admission will no longer need to join queues at Computer Based Test, CBT, centres just to get their O Level results uploaded, following a new remote verification system introduced by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB.
The Board disclosed in a statement issued on Monday that candidates can now complete the entire process, from verification to upload, using only their phones or computers from home. Dr Fabian Benjamin, Acting Director, Public Affairs and Protocol, who signed the statement, described the move as a direct response to the recurring frustrations candidates face at physical centres, particularly during periods of heavy traffic and unstable network connections.
The system currently works with results issued by the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, with JAMB confirming that results will be checked directly against WAEC’s own records through an integration between the examination body and JAMB’s e Facility platform. This direct verification, according to Benjamin, is designed to catch problems that have long plagued the manual upload process, such as mismatched paper certificates, forged results and typing errors made during manual data entry.
Getting started involves two stages. Candidates first visit JAMB’s dedicated verification platform, confirm their identity using their National Identification Number, NIN, and indicate how many O Level sittings and which examination body applies to them. After supplying an email address and phone number and completing payment, they enter their examination number, series and year, at which point the system generates a Verification Code.
The second stage requires texting the word “VERIFY” alongside the code to either 55019 or 66019, after which the results are uploaded automatically and a confirmation notification follows. Candidates combining two sittings take a slightly different route, logging into their e Facility dashboard, selecting “2026 UTME O Level Upload,” entering their Verification Code and picking between five and nine subjects from what the system displays, with duplicate subject entries not permitted.
