Underage candidates who sat the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination can now check their scores, following confirmation from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board that results for this category of applicants have been uploaded for viewing.
Fabian Benjamin, Acting Director, Public Affairs and Protocols at JAMB, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, noting that any applicant who would be below 16 years by September 30, 2026 falls under the underage classification.
Benjamin clarified that being able to view a result carries no automatic admission benefit, adding that the exercise was carried out chiefly so candidates, parents and guardians could know how they performed in the UTME.
Only candidates who exhibit exceptional academic ability and maturity stand a chance of admission, JAMB explained, and even then only after passing through multiple stages of assessment and verification. A UTME score of at least 320 is required, alongside a minimum of 80% in relevant Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination subjects, where applicable.
JAMB further stated that candidates in this category must meet the Post UTME requirements of their preferred institutions and scale a final assessment conducted by experts. According to the Board, the layered process exists specifically to filter out candidates who merely scored well from those who are genuinely exceptional.
The statement noted that verification was still in progress, with certain stages not yet concluded. JAMB revealed that candidates still awaiting their National Examinations Council results would be given room to submit them for verification ahead of the final assessment, since NECO results have not yet been released.

“As soon as the NECO results are released, the Board will fix and announce a date for the final stage of the assessment,” the statement read.
JAMB used the opportunity to caution against fraudsters who might promise underage candidates admission outside the laid down process, and warned candidates who fall short of the requirements against presenting their results to institutions in a bid to force admission.
