The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has fixed Monday, May 11, for its 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions, where the minimum UTME cut off marks for the 2026/2027 academic session will be officially determined, a development that directly affects thousands of candidates awaiting admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.

Fabian Benjamin, the board’s spokesperson, revealed this in a statement issued on Sunday, confirming that the meeting will be held at the Body of Benchers Auditorium, Plot 688, Institute and Research District, FCC Phase III, Jabi, Abuja.

The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, is expected to unveil major policy directions at the gathering. Benjamin stated that the meeting remains “a crucial annual gathering where stakeholders decide minimum tolerable UTME marks, admission guidelines, and policies for tertiary institutions.”

The board added that the meeting would “formally set the tone for the 2026/2027 admission exercise while impressing on attendees the need to adhere strictly to stipulated guidelines.”

Vice Chancellors, Rectors, Provosts, Registrars, and their Admission Officers are expected to attend alongside regulatory bodies, including the National Universities Commission, the National Commission for Colleges of Education, and the National Board for Technical Education.

Goodwill messages are also expected from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, the National Youth Service Corps, and other stakeholders.

In addition, the 6th edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Awards will be held at the event, aimed at promoting compliance with admission guidelines and improving standards across tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

As a UTME candidate, the cut off mark announced at this meeting will determine the minimum score required for your institution of choice to consider your application for the 2026/2027 session.
