With five candidates sharing 368 marks, three others on 367, and a new top scorer at 372, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released the full ranking of the highest performing candidates in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, alongside firm deadlines governing admissions into tertiary institutions this cycle.
Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede revealed the results on Monday in Abuja during the 2026 admission policy meeting, naming Owoeye Daniella Jesudunsin of Ekiti State as the examination’s overall best candidate. She sat the examination in Ogun State and registered the University of Lagos as her first choice Institution to study Medicine and Surgery, scoring 372 out of 400.
Oloyede noted that her score falls two marks short of the 374 achieved by Okeke Chinedu Christian of Anambra State in 2025, which remains the highest score recorded in the computer based test era.
Enwere Kingsley Ikenna of Imo State, who sat the examination in Lagos, took second position with 370 marks. He chose Nile University, Abuja, for Computer Science. Bamisile Ayomide Emmanuel of Ondo State followed in third place with 369, opting for the Federal University of Technology, Akure, to study Software Engineering.
Fourth position went to five candidates who each scored 368: Olabiyisi Olanrewaju Oluwatimileyin of Oyo State chose Pan-Atlantic University for Mechatronics Engineering; Victor Onyeka Daniel Ifeanyi of Imo State picked the University of Port Harcourt for Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Osagiobare Daniel Osahenrumwen of Edo State selected the University of Benin for Mechanical Engineering; Ademiluyi Adebowale Anthony of Osun State chose Obafemi Awolowo University for Computer Engineering; and Azuike Kenechukwu Anthony of Anambra State opted for Afe Babalola University for Software Engineering.
Rounding out the top scorers with 367 marks each are Offorkile Michael Okechukwu of Abia State, who sat in Anambra and selected Computer Science; Adebisi Eniola Sonari of Ogun State, who sat in Osun and chose Covenant University for Computer Science; and Umukoro Gift Orhenevovwero of Delta State, who sat in Edo and picked the University of Lagos for Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
The policy meeting also set binding deadlines for the 2026 admission cycle. Public Universities must wrap up admissions by October 31, 2026, private Universities by November 30, 2026, and polytechnics, monotechnics, and colleges of education by December 31, 2026. Oloyede cautioned that institutions failing to meet their respective deadlines would be barred from accessing candidates for the session.
Admitted candidates have four weeks to formally accept their offers, the registrar stated, warning that unclaimed offers would be withdrawn and the affected candidates may lose eligibility for admission consideration in that session.
Oloyede further disclosed that JAMB would launch a “Bring Your Own Device” policy for the UTME in 2027. Under the arrangement, candidates will sit the examination on their personal devices, with a flash drive inserted to safeguard the integrity of the test. He added that the initiative would lower costs, simplify logistics, and put an end to repeated complaints about computers shutting down mid examination.
