Breaking: The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has conducted a large-scale computer-based promotion examination for about 6,000 directorate-level officers under the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) on 13th November, 2025.

The exercise took place in Abuja and also accommodated candidates writing from designated centres outside Nigeria; United Kingdom, the United States, India, and Egypt. The promotion test was organised using JAMB’s standard CBT facilities, with candidates seated in batches to ensure smooth coordination.

According to the Commissioner representing the FCT and Niger on the Federal Civil Service Commission, Dr Hussaini Adamu, on Wednesday which was the assessment day recorded about 1,500 candidates taking part in multiple sessions.

JAMB ensured that all centres used for the examination were equipped with functional computer systems, CCTV monitoring and uninterrupted power supply. The environment was described as orderly, with candidates expressing confidence as the process progressed.

The Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede explained that the decision to adopt the CBT format is meant to improve efficiency, reduce examination malpractice and simplify the promotion testing process. He noted that the platform is user-friendly and designed to accommodate candidates who may not be highly technologically inclined.

The Chairman of the FCSC commended the collaboration, describing it as a landmark step. He emphasised that this is the first time the commission is adopting a full CBT model for director-level promotion exams, adding that the outcome of this pilot will guide future expansion to other cadres.
