Q: Are Mathematics and Physics compulsory for all Engineering and Technology courses?
A: Yes. Both Mathematics and Physics are compulsory for all accredited engineering and technology programmes.
Q: Can I combine WAEC and NECO results for admission into Engineering or Technology courses?
A: Yes, candidates can combine WAEC and NECO results, as long as the five required credits are obtained in not more than two sittings.
Q: Are there differences in course requirements among universities for Engineering and Environmental courses?
A: Yes. Some universities have higher O’level credit requirements, additional subjects, or specific DE requirements. Always check the brochure for each school.
Q: Can Direct Entry candidates apply for Engineering or Technology courses?
A: Yes. Direct Entry candidates typically need ND, HND, A-level, JUPEB, or IJMB qualifications relevant to the programme with minimum acceptable grades.
Q: Is Environmental Science or Technology the same as Environmental Engineering?
A: No. Environmental Science/Technology is broader and may focus on management and sustainability, while Environmental Engineering is more technical and design-focused.
Q: Do polytechnics have different admission requirements than universities?
A: Yes. Polytechnics may accept slightly different O’level subjects or combinations and sometimes lower UTME cut-offs compared to universities.
Q: How can I check the specific requirements for a particular Engineering course at a university?
A: The JAMB brochure 2026/2027 provides a full list of courses by institution, including O’level subjects, UTME combinations, and any special admission notes.
