Candidates who have sat on unresolved JAMB admission offers dating as far back as 2021 now have until September 30, 2026 to make a decision, after the Board pushed back what was originally a August 31 deadline.
The extension, announced in a statement by the Board’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, was framed as the last window candidates will get. Benjamin said the move was meant to give affected candidates “one final opportunity” to clearly indicate whether they wished to accept or reject their outstanding offers, adding that it would help JAMB “maintain accurate, current and reliable national admission records.”
The scope of the extension covers a wide pool of cases. Both regular admission offers and those processed through CUIIA are included, and JAMB has urged candidates in either category to log into their profiles and act rather than wait for the deadline to approach. Candidates who accept will be able to print their admission letters, while those who reject will see their dashboard status revert to “Not Admitted.”
For candidates juggling an old offer alongside a fresh one, JAMB offered specific reassurance. Those who have already secured admission in the 2026 exercise but still have an earlier offer sitting unresolved can safely reject it, Benjamin noted, stressing that such candidates “should not be apprehensive” since doing so has no adverse effect on their current admission. Candidates now studying a different programme from the one tied to their old offer were also told they could accept it and later apply for correction or deletion where necessary.
The timing of the extension coincides with a leadership change at the Board. Professor Segun Aina took over as Registrar in 2026, succeeding Professor Ishaq Oloyede, whose decade long tenure was defined in large part by the rollout of the Central Admissions Processing System, JAMB CAPS, the platform through which all of these outstanding offers are being tracked and resolved.
JAMB was unambiguous about what happens after September 30. Any offer from 2021 to date that remains neither accepted nor rejected by then will automatically revert to “Not Admitted” and stay that way on the Board’s permanent records. Candidates have been told there will be no further extension beyond this date, with inaction guaranteed to render an outstanding offer invalid.
