Plans for a new archives, library, and gallery complex at the National Headquarters of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board in Abuja have been finalised, the Board’s Registrar, Professor Is haq Oloyede, has announced. The disclosure came during an expanded management meeting on Friday, 10th July 2026, attended by a visiting delegation from the University of Cape Coast in Ghana.
According to Prof Oloyede, the decision followed a benchmarking partnership with the Ghanaian university, aimed at strengthening strategies for archival, library, and gallery management. He noted that the collaboration was informed by a report from a visitation team headed by the Director of Quality Assurance, Hon. Danladi Muhammed, who had earlier visited the University of Cape Coast to assess its systems.
Leading the delegation on an inspection of the Board’s existing library and the proposed site for the new complex, the Registrar explained that JAMB’s inhouse Archives, established about four years earlier, would be upgraded as part of the project. He recalled that the National Archives of Nigeria had assisted in setting up the unit, which was later relocated to the Test Development Complex under the Quality Assurance Department.
Prof Oloyede stressed that the partnership with the university formed part of a broader interuniversity engagement strategy, explaining that the initiative was not born out of a shortage of ideas within the Board but reflected the belief that collaboration produces stronger outcomes. He added that JAMB presently runs two libraries, an academic one at the Test Development Department and an administrative one at the Headquarters.
The Registrar expressed confidence that the new facility, once completed, would elevate the Board’s records and information management practices in line with global standards, describing the ongoing engagement with the University of Cape Coast as a valuable step towards achieving that goal.
