JAMB has published its full list of banned items and misconduct penalties for the examination running from Thursday, 16 April to Saturday, 25 April 2026. These rules are enforced under the Examination Malpractice Act. Ignorance is not a defence, and no appeals for leniency will be entertained once an offence is recorded.

Here is exactly what each offence costs you. Arriving without your e-registration or examination slip results in cancellation. Bringing a calculator, mobile phone, wristwatch, USB drive, CD, hard disk or any similar electronic or storage device results in cancellation and prosecution. Spying or copying from unauthorised materials results in cancellation. Impersonation, one of the most prosecuted offences in recent UTME cycles, carries cancellation, a two year ban and criminal prosecution. Colluding with other candidates, examiners, or external agents carries cancellation, a three year ban and prosecution. Violent or unruly behaviour towards examiners results in cancellation, expulsion from the hall, prosecution and a three year ban. Tampering with or doctoring results carries cancellation, a three year ban and prosecution for forgery.

Beyond electronic devices, the list of banned items extends further than many candidates expect. JAMB has also prohibited pens and biros, books and reading materials, cameras, recorders, microphones, earpieces, ink readers, smart lenses, smart rings, smart jewellery, smart buttons, Bluetooth devices, key holders, ATM cards, erasers, bangles, necklaces and wallets or purses. The only writing material permitted inside the examination hall is an ordinary HB pencil. Bags and purses are banned entirely.

Strict biometric verification and physical screening will be conducted at every centre before entry. The examination runs in four daily sessions across accredited CBT centres nationwide, with the first session starting at 8:30 am.

Walk into your centre tomorrow with your examination slip, your HB pencil and nothing else. Leave your phone, your watch, your wallet and your jewellery at home. JAMB is not bluffing, and one avoidable mistake should not be what ends your university dream before it begins.
